Richard and Delores Wiens

I moved to Dallas, OR, with my parents and three siblings when I was 8 years old. We met Reverend and Mrs. Walter Duff, who also attended that church, and I had many opportunities to talk with the Duffs and hear his great concern for rural churches in America. After seminary, Delores and I spent 16 years church planting in Mexico. We returned to Dallas, OR, and met with Rev. and Edith Duff and again heard the challenge of Village Missions for rural churches of America. Rev. Duff said, "When you're ready, I have a place for you."

So, after we took the youngest of our four children to Pacific College, we said, "We're ready." We served with Village Missions for 12 years, feeling richly blessed in being part of the mission. We served five years in Gig Harbor, WA, seven in Monitor, OR, and then were Associate Village Missionaries at Lone Rock in Seabeck, WA. We feel privileged to have served both home and foreign missions.
Village Missions exists to glorify Jesus Christ by developing spiritually vital country churches in rural North America. We fulfill this aim by placing pastors in small town and rural churches that might otherwise have to close, and in doing so, preserve the Gospel presence in over 220 communities across the United States and Canada.
