The rural ministry of Village Missions was God's way of bringing both Jan and Mike to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. When God's call to full-time ministry came the rural work of Village Missions was the clear fit for the Shields.
After 32 years of ministry in Colorado and Nebraska Jan and Mike retired and settled in Colorado.
Currently they live in Canon City, Colorado, where they are blessed to carry on the Village Missions motto, "Love the people, and Preach the Word," in a small and needy church.

Village Missions exists to glorify Jesus Christ by developing spiritually vital country churches in rural North America. We fulfill this aim by placing pastors in small town and rural churches that might otherwise have to close, and in doing so, preserve the Gospel presence in over 220 communities across the United States and Canada.
