Dave and Shannon Scott
We met in college in Tahlequah, Oklahoma in the early 90s, and the Lord moved us to commit deeply to Him and each other in marriage in 1997. Since then, the Lord has steadily and faithfully built us in stages in His Philippians 1:6 way.
We spent the first 15 years of our married lives in Northeastern Oklahoma, in and around Tulsa, as public school teachers. Dave taught middle and high school English, while Shannon earned her master's degree in Reading and helped elementary students who were struggling in that area to read well. After all, the best reason to learn to read well is so the Bible can have a great impact. That's our heart, now and forever: that our Savior would use us to spread His Word wherever we go and that it would be glorified, just as Paul described to the Thessalonian Christians (2 Thessalonians 3:1).
In 2012, our friend and former Tulsa pastor, Dr. John Barnett, asked Dave to come serve as his Executive Pastor at Calvary Bible Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and we said YES! Those were wonderfully sweet and challenging years, during which the saints of Calvary became our family and forever friends! In 2017, John launched into overseas missions, training pastors and missionaries all over the world through his ministry at DiscoverTheBook.org. The Lord began stirring in us something we didn't recognize at the time. With the help and guidance of dear friends in Kalamazoo, we were introduced to Village Missions.
Our time with Village Missions, from our very first contact on March 4, 2019, has been like driving a highway with beautiful scenery and all green lights--constant affirmations from the Lord every step of the way. We now serve in Middleton, New Hampshire. We continue to serve Him thankfully, by grace that is exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to His power that works in, around, and through us--to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever (Ephesians 3:20-21).
Will you partner with us and Village Missions to develop spiritually thriving churches in rural areas like Middleton?
