I grew up in an evangelical family outside Dallas, Oregon, and was brought to repentance and faith in Jesus alone when I was four. Our family moved to California when my father became a pastor in Fortuna. He challenged us to read through the Bible in a year. Since then, the Holy Spirit has used Scripture and many mentors to show me what it means to walk with Jesus.

After high school, I attended Corban University in Oregon. I had the privilege of serving on a Corban team to Colombia. After graduating, I became more seriously invested in local church ministry, writing prayer updates about our missionary families and co-leading the adult Sunday school class.

In 2022 I spent 4 months in Togo at an ABWE (Association of Baptists for World Evangelism) hospital, serving as a teacher's assistant for the missionary kids and sharing translated devotionals with relatives of patients. Then I enrolled in Corban University's Christian Leadership graduate program. I wanted to give theological training to pastors overseas, but God redirected me to being a pastor in the U.S.

I was trained and appointed as a deacon, and my father mentored me in pastoral ministry. My grandfather advised me to consider Village Missions.

I desire to equip a rural church with the powerful truth of God's Word, not just for our minds, but also for our feelings, values, and relationship with the Lord. Like the rest of the Village Missions team, I want brothers and sisters in Christ to be spiritually mature and vibrant, able and willing to disciple others and reach out to those around them who aren't yet redeemed. Similarly, I want to be a missionary to the community by befriending, listening to, and sharing the gospel with neighbors and others.

Will you partner with me and Village Missions to help country churches thrive and spread the gospel in rural communities?
Nathanael Schellenberg
Village Missions exists to glorify Jesus Christ by developing spiritually vital country churches in rural North America. We fulfill this aim by placing pastors in small town and rural churches that might otherwise have to close, and in doing so, preserve the Gospel presence in over 210 communities across the United States and Canada.
