Philip and Valorie Rownd
When it dawned on them that Jesus Himself went to all of the out-of-the-way villages (Matthew 9:35), Philip and Valorie wanted to follow Him there. When they found out that Village Missions had a rural mission field for them, Philip and Valorie signed on as Village Missionaries. That was in 2001, when they were newlyweds and fresh out of Bible college.
Since then, they have put down their roots in Stanley, Iowa, grown a family with three children, and become fully involved in the out-of-the-way farming community.
Within the local church, Philip and Valorie are making disciples for Jesus; equipping believers for outreach to children in Vacation Bible school, and to residents of the local nursing home. Philip has taught men who are now teaching men with drug and alcohol addictions to stand firm in Christ. Out in the community, among those who do not worship Jesus, Philip and Valorie are making connections. In the local school, on the fire department, and outside on the backyard swing set, they are planting and watering gospel seeds, and the Lord is causing the growth!
Philip and Valorie were 22 years old when they became Village Missionaries, and they have not left the mission field to do any fundraising. God has been faithful. His people have kindly provided encouragement, prayer, and financial gifts to keep the Rownds free to focus on strengthening the church in this rural community. Please consider entering into partnership with Philip and Valorie, and help to continue their work through Village Missions.
